The kingfisher is a totemic bird for me. I was raised by a river, so the kingfisher was always there, displaying its colours and talents. My granddaughter said recently, after drawing a kingfisher for me, that she could understand why I loved that bird – it is so beautiful. The kingfisher plays an important role in country, the environment, and also the inner world, the world of spirit and understanding. It is a guardian of the waterways, the creeks and rivers, and the mangrove estuaries. I wrote this song after my son had been ill with Ross River fever for 18 months. I was at my wits end and went outside to ponder what this was all about. A dead kingfisher lay at my back door. I knew this was a rite de passage for both my son and myself. I wrote this song and he healed.

- 6 Minyirr2:35
This song commemorates Minyirr, or Gantheume Point, on the southern end of Cable Beach, Broome, in the Kimberley region of north-west Australia. This place is of very important significance to indigenous people from this region, as I hope the song conveys.
